An antiques and art discovery weekend will be held to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Westchester on May 19th & 20th, between 10 AM and 5 PM. The event is open to the public and will be part of Habitat’s 30th Anniversary celebration on Main Street in New Rochelle. Guest speakers, as well as, antique, art and collectible experts from The Appraisers Road Show will hold the event at Habitat for Humanity, which is located at 659 Main Street in New Rochelle. The proceeds will support Habitat’s 30/30 campaign (30 neighborhoods in 30 years.) No appointments are needed.
The event offers everyone the opportunity to have their heirlooms and collectibles verbally analyzed and given an auction estimate. Specialized experts will be available to talk with directly. Category expert speakers will also be available for lectures. The public can bring their objects for viewing. Or, if there are a large group of items, team members may be contacted for on-site visits.
This will be the thirty-third road show held in New York State in the past seven years. It will be at Habitat for Humanity of Westchester for the first time.
A number of important antique finds were made in the past, which include a one-million-dollar Chinese Imperial Zitan chair, a Gustav Stickley corner cupboard and a group of Japanese Surimono prints. Besides these treasures, a number of other surprises have been found at all price levels, often to the delight of the owners.
Featured during both days will be leading experts in Americana, documents and maps, jewelry, silver, furniture, stamps, coins, toys, military relics, books, sports memorabilia, Chinese and Japanese objects and ceramics, rugs, tapestries, prints, posters, paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and other collectibles.
“We are excited to have the Appraisal Roadshow come to SoNo New Rochelle, in the most historic Main Street in America” said James Killoran, Habitat’s Executive Director.
He added,” Tom Daly will join us from the Norman Rockwell Museum to speak at 2pm. We believe there are still signed Rockwell’s, valuable coins, military relics, sports memorabilia, that are worth thousands right in this area. Along with a trip to The Restore, this will be an amazing pre-kickoff to a great summer! The fact the Appraisers Road Show will help us raise money, will help us raise more homes for families and Veterans in need!
A $10 fee will be charged for the first item and $5 for additional items, up to five. Any remaining items are free. For more information about the appraisal day, please visit www.gotoroadshow.com. Maps and driving directions can be found there. Or, call (914) 403-4821. The Appraisers Road Show is an independent organization with no affiliation with Habitat for Humanity of Westchester.
