NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Free summer library programs for children ages six months to 5 years are being offered at the main New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library (HCL) beginning Monday, July 9 through Friday, August 24. All programs are on a drop-in, first-come, first-served basis, except Preschool Fun and Fitness.
Bouncing Babies, a Mother Goose program of songs, music, movement and a story for children 6 – 24 months, will be held on Thursdays, July 12- August 23, from 9:15 am 9:45 am in the children’s room of the main library and from 11:45 am – 12:15 pm at the HCL.
Let’s Pretend, for children ages 3 – 5 years, introduces theater through games, songs, nursery rhymes, and an on-stage experience. Instructor Nora Maher leads the program on Thursdays, July 12 – August 23, from 10:00 am- 10:30 am at the Main Library, and from 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm at HCL.
3, 4 & 5s for children ages 3 – 5 years, includes stories, songs, and a take-home craft, and takes place on Mondays, July 9 – August 20, from 10:00 am – 10:45 am at the Main Library. Sessions will be held at HCL, on Tuesdays, July 10 – August 21, from 10:30 am – 11:15 am.
Yoga Kids, for children ages 4 – 6 years, is led by a certified yoga instructor from Budding Buddhas. Using fun games and innovative movements, she’ll lead participants through yoga basics that help with relaxation, concentration and agility. The sessions will take place at HCL on Mondays, July 9- August 20, from 11:00 am-– 11:30 am, and on Wednesday, July 11 – August 22, from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm.
Preschool Fun & Fitness takes place on Mondays, July 9- August 20, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, in the Main Library Meeting Room. Children ages 2 – 5 and their parent, grandparent or caregiver, are invited to join the health & fitness team from Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital’s Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Services for a fun-filled hour of movement, games and healthy eating and lifestyle tips. Every Wednesday, from July 11 through August 22, Live Shows and Films for the Younger Set will take place in the Ossie Davis Theater at 10:30 am. The first live show will feature the popular children’s entertainer Zev Haber, on Wednesday, July 11. Chicka Chicka Boom will be shown on July 18.
