NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Pat Vaccaro is a man with three passions. His Family, the Law Firm he was part of for 50 years and the Youth of his beloved New Rochelle.
This is about passion Number three. Pat Vaccaro founded the New Rochelle Basketball Association (NRBA) over five years ago. It’s motto is “Helping Kids Succeed.” Now that Vaccaro has retired from Passion #2, The Jackson Lewis Law Firm, he and his small committee including co-founder and Partner Andy Peterson, are dedicated to funding the non profit 501©3 and helping kids in need through organized basketball. The NRBA helps kids move timely and successfully through their grades and go to college and/or a career.
Vaccaro says, “Our focus is on responsibility and accountability. If you don’t strive for success in the classroom, if you cause problems at home or in the Community, if you don’t understand the necessity of being a good person and citizen, you will not play for an NRBA team and you will not receive support off the court. But if you strive for success in the classroom, in the community, and on the court, assistance from the NRBA could be life changing.”
Here is how the NRBA changes lives and how your contribution can help.
1.Monitoring of school progress including providing assistance in the form of tutoring and increased guidance counseling. The NRBA currently employs 10 tutors.
2.College prep mentoring and counseling including assistance with need based financial aid and/or athletic scholarship.
3.ACT/SAT prep
4.Assistance with NCAA eligibility
5.Post secondary job placement assistance and counseling
The NRBA currently supports 10 boys and girls programs from 4th – 8th grades. It also provides assistance to boys and girls New Rochelle High School basketball programs, freshman to varsity.
This is a program that deserves your help and support particularly if you or your organization has ties to the New Rochelle Community.
In order to help fund this ambitious program, the NRBA is holding its 2nd Annual Golf Outing July 31st at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle. You can support this Golf Outing as a sponsor or participant as follows:
