NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Federation of United School Employees or FUSE will be giving away 12,000 books, valued at $125,000, at Trinity Elementary School on Saturday September 15th from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The books are organized into age-appropriate sets from Elementary to Middle School to High School.
FUSE, the local chapter of NYSUT, is putting free first books in the hands of students with the help of the non-profit organization First Book Inc., and the American Federation of Teachers, a NYSUT national affiliate. Books are made available at low to no cost to high-needs schools and nonprofit programs serving low-income families and kids in need.
“The First Book Program is a way for FUSE to give back to the community,” said FUSE Vice President William Coleman.
First Book Inc., obtains new, high-quality books donated from book publishers and through monetary donations from people and companies that support the program.
The FUSE is part of the 500,000 member New York State United Teachers (NYSUT). We are also affiliated nationally with the American Federation of Teachers, (AFT) and are proud to be part of the AFL-CIO.
