Collectibles, at the Pelham Art Center, includes the work of 9 artists selected by Executive Director, Charlotte Mouquin. All of the works in this exhibition will be priced under $2,500 by mid career and emerging artists making this the perfect collecting opportunity to take home affordable artworks. The public opening will be held on Friday, November 9th from 6-8 pm in conjunction with the Artisan Boutique which highlights artist makers. Artist exhibiting in the Collectibles exhibition include Cey Adams, Charles Clary, Michael DeFeo, Marylyn Dintenfass, Mayuko Fujino, Katy Garry, Elisa Lejuez, Michael Mut, and Esther Rosa.
Cey Adams, fine artist, muralist, and the original graphic designer for Def Jam Records has 4 pieces in the exhibition of hand embellished limited edition prints. This is an opportunity to bring home a piece of history at an affordable price point. Charles Clary, combines intricate designs using cut paper combined with found objects and historic frames creating unusual pieces. Michael DeFeo, known in the street art world for his iconic flower image, will be showing some hand embellished limited editions prints, and some of his hand painted magazine ads. Marylyn Dintenfass, is an internationally recognized artist whose bright editions with layerd circular symbolism captivate viewers. Mayuko Fujino creates dual-layered papercut and collage art to replicate structures of dreams. Local Pelham painter Katy Garry creates using colorful and energetic depictions of mood through abstract interpretation and iconic figures. Elisa Lejuez, a Dutch Carribean painter living in Aruba layers colors and symbols to create colorful works with influences of her experience in textile design. Michael Mut, the founder of the Love Yourself Project, creates mandalas to celebrate life and bring peace to his day. He shares these messages of healing and peace with everyone he interacts with. Esther Rosa, has a hanging installation and 2 large prints. Her mission is to raise awareness of the importance of self discovery, in the search for your identity by embracing imperfections to grow, understanding that life itself is imperfect and is constantly changing.
Artisan Boutique, Pelham Art Center’s annual artisan and craft show, is back. Artisan Boutique highlights a dynamic collection of quality, affordable handmade items for sale, from Friday, November 9 through Saturday, December 22nd with a final sale day on Saturday December 29th, 2018. Skilled artisans will be showcasing; ceramics, silver works, jewelry; glass, leather, and more. Artisan Boutique will feature 25 local and national artists who represent a range of traditional and modified artisan techniques, creating one-of-a-kind items. Supporting both the local economy and artists alike, Artisan Boutique is a hip local alternative to commercial holiday shopping. A quirky illustration print, a pair of finely crafted metal earrings, or an artist’s 2019 calendar could be a unique and perfect gift. The Pelham Art Center members will receive a 10% discount on all Artisan Boutique gallery sales during a special Members’ Holiday Sale, December 3-8.
