BREAKING: Multiple Reports of Arrests of New Rochelle Postal Employees

Written By: Robert Cox

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Multiple sources have confirmed arrests of United States Postal Service employees. Sources say as many as 5 people were arrested as of Tuesday.

USPS officials have repeatedly denied there have been any arrests.

Allegations related to moving drugs and cash through the mail, stealing checks, check washing and more. One scheme reportedly involved employees “renting out” keys to Post Office Boxes so confederates could loot the contents of the PO Boxes.

Jeffrey M. Powers, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Postal Service, Inspector General Northeast Area Field Office has issued a series of non-denial denials for more than a week.

The United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of New York has been similarly evasive.

“I have to decline to comment for now“, said DOJ Spokesperson Dawn Dearden when asked to comment on reports of the arrests.

Asked about a report last of a single arrest, Powers said:

“The USPS-OIG does not provide information confirming whether or not investigations are being conducted.  Nor would we provide investigative reports or photos.”

Talk of the Sound did not ask about an ongoing investigation or for copies of investigative reports.

Sources within the USPS are scared to talk about the matter, saying it is all “hush hush”.

A previous report by Talk of the Sound of mail left in dumpsters triggered a USPS OIG Investigation. The investigation appeared to focus on who took the photos and how Talk of the Sound knew about the discarded mail.

UPDATE FROM NRPD:

“We were advised of an arrest of a mail carrier by the postal authorities,” said Captain Cosmo Costa, Commanding Officer of the Criminal Investigations Division of the New Rochelle Police Department. “It is our understanding that US District Court would handle the proceedings.“
