NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Board of Education is dealing with a second allegation of sexual assault at Albert Leonard Middle School this month.
In a letter sent to parents earlier today, ALMS Principal John Barnes notified the school community of an allegation from an Albert Leonard Middle School parent that a former staff member had inappropriate physical contact with their child at the school.
“The accused employee has not worked in the district for three weeks due to reasons unrelated to this accusation,” wrote Barnes.
New Rochelle Police Captain Cosmo Costa would not specify when the alleged incident occurred or the position of the employee and did not offer further information.
“The allegation, unrelated to the prior allegation, was reported to us last night by the School,” said Costa. The matter is under investigation by Detectives.”
“The school administration and district officials immediately notified law enforcement and is actively working with the police department to provide the required information to assist in the investigation,” said Barnes.
Barnes did not offer further details due to the active police investigation and privacy considerations.
“The district reminds families to immediately notify us if there are any safety concerns,” said Barnes.
