SNEAK PREVIEW: NEW MIRAGE MENU
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Before fans of the old Mirage Diner get too excited, the new Mirage Restaurant & Cafe is not a replacement for the diner torn down in 2015 to make way for an Iona College dormitory.
Ari Thanos, an experienced investor and restaurant operator based in Westchester, says the new Mirage is a restaurant, with an executive chef but a menu that will offer breakfast anytime.
The new restaurant will open Monday morning at 9 a.m., said Thanos.
“We will spend the next two weeks working out the kinks then move to open earlier, at 7 a.m.,” said Thanos. “Over the next few months we hope to expand to operating 24-7 and offer deliveries.”
Thanos is excited to open in New Rochelle in a space owned by Iona College.
“Iona has been great to work with,” he said.
Ari Thanos has owned a group of 8 restaurants in the Atlanta area. He owns The Landmark Diner in Ossining and the Stamford Diner.
When he purchased the City Diner in Stamford and converted it into the Stamford Diner, he brought a new management team including an executive chef, cut prices, and made everything fresh, on the premises.
“Everything is made fresh here,” Thanos told the Stamford Advocate. “We hand-make our onion rings, we freshly bread our fish. Our corn beef is homemade. Our bakery on staff is here also.”
Thanos is also a Principal in the Mid Atlantic Fund, a venture fund and a family office that both makes direct venture investments in healthcare and technology startups as well as investments directly into other venture funds.
