NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Joseph Williams, New Rochelle School’s Former Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, has accepted a separation agreement which will pay him $156,619.50, equivalent to 9 months salary, plus accrued vacation days and sick days totaling just under $200,000.
Under the deal both parties have agreed to confidentiality and non-disparagement clauses.
Williams was under contract until June 30, 2021 but was sent home of June 27th of this year. Under the separation agreement, Williams agreed to resign on July 8th and renounce any legal claims against the District.
The departure of Williams appears to be tied to the failure to meet new state requirements for instructional hours at the District’s two middle schools.
On March 26th, the New Rochelle Board of Education approved the hiring of Douglas A. Spencer, PLLC to “investigate a certain personnel matter and administrative matter with regard to the 2018-19 school calendar,”
Asked by Talk of the Sound about the long overdue Spencer Report, New Rochelle Board of Education President Amy Moselhi said:
“A written report was prepared by special counsel and thereafter presented to the Board of Education in Executive Session. The report contains certain information within it that, if disclosed, would constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy for the staff members identified therein under applicable law. “Notwithstanding the foregoing, upon the submission of an appropriate FOIL request the report will be released to you in redacted form in accordance with applicable law.”
Talk of the Sound immediately filed a Freedom of Information request for the Spencer Report but has yet to receive the report.
