NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Isa Muhammad appeared in court Friday November 6, 2020 before Judge Jared R. Rice in New Rochelle City Court.

Isa Muhammad was the driver of the car the night Kamal Flowers was shot and killed by New Rochelle Police Office Alec McKenna. He was arrested by New Rochelle Police Department three day before he was due to testify before the Westchester County Grand Jury which was deciding whether to indict McKenna on a murder charge in the case. The Grand Jury returned a True Bill (no charges against McKenna).

In a case involving drugs or alcohol, a referral is often made to Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities or TASC. In Muhammad’s case, Judge Rice made a referral to the Guidance Center for therapy.

Rice stressed to Muhammad that he take advantage of the opportunity to go Guidance Center for therapy so that his might “resolve in favorable manner for everybody involved.”

“I know you as much better than the background shows.” Rice added.

Muhammad was directed to call the Guidance Center to schedule a meeting. Muhammad said he did not have a phone because the police took his phone — and $620 cash — when he was arrested on October 22, 2020. Rice asked the ADA for the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office to see what could be done to return Muhammad’s phone.
