New Rochelle School & City Workers Begin COVID-19 Vaccinations at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital

UPDATE: Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital “suddenly withdrew” their invitation, said Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alex Marrero in a late night announcement on Thursday. “No vaccinations will be provided to District staff members through this initiative until further notice.”

ORIGINAL STORY

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital is now offering Tier 2 employees of the City of New Rochelle and City School District of New Rochelle the opportunity to receive the Moderna vaccination for COVID-19.

The distribution of the vaccine will be staggered over the next week.

Patients will receive their first of two doses starting today or in the coming days and will be required to return 3 weeks later for a second dose.

New Rochelle employees began receiving the vaccine today starting with police, firefighters and other staff including City Council members

Half of CSDNR City Hall employees will go today and half tomorrow.

Dozens of City and School employees queued up this afternoon to get screened then vaccinated.

School District employees at each of the 10 public schools will receive the vaccine between this Friday and next Friday.

Each school will shift to remote, asynchronous learning for one day, according to the chart above, to enable staff members to receive the first of the vaccination’s two shots. Staff members will report to work, where they will be transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital to receive a screening and the vaccination. Social distancing will be observed on the school buses transporting staff.

Patients who pass the screening and receive their first dose of the vaccine are given a packet of information with Discharge Instructions and a detailed Fact Sheet.
