MAMARONECK, NY –The NAACP New Rochelle Branch is expanding to include Mamaroneck and Larchmont to support systemic reform within the Mamaroneck public school system.
In a statement, OneMamaroneck said “the NAACP will serve as a resource and support system for people of color in Larchmont and Mamaroneck. In addition, the expansion will validate the issues of people of color, letting them know that their issues are real, they are being heard and that they matter.”
“The NAACP’s mission is to be a voice for the voiceless as we work to ensure freedom, justice, and equality for all citizens,” said NAACP New Rochelle Branch President Minister Mark McLean. “When One Mamaroneck reached out and told their story of racial bullying and the marginalization of families of color in the Mamaroneck school district, it became crystal clear that the NAACP New Rochelle Branch must engage to help them in their fight.”
“As the great Dr Martin Luther King Jr declared ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere’, added McLean.

Formed in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a nationally prominent civil rights organization, created to advance justice for the Black population. Its mission is “to ensure the political, social, and economic equality of all persons, and to eliminate race-based discrimination.”
The NAACP is coming to town!
As outrage against centuries of systemic racism continues to grow, not only at the national level, but in our own Mamaroneck and Larchmont communities, a growing number of families, former and current students and allies have found the courage to share their stories of racism, bias, and abuse that went unpunished in the Mamaroneck Union Free School District.
The momentum continues.
