NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New York Police Department and Homeland Security Investigators with support from the New Rochelle Police Department, executed a search warrant Thursday in New Rochelle for a sex offender from New York City.
Steven Cohen, 68, was determined to have failed to register as a sex offender by investigators. He was charged by New Rochelle Police with “Sex Offender Fail to Report Change Address/Status in 10 days”.
He was arraigned in New Rochelle City Court in front of Judge Jared Rice on Thursday and Released on his Own Recognizance. He is due back in Court on February 22nd.
Cohen was arrested by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office in 2001 and convicted of a Class E Felony, “Attempted Dissemination of Indecent Material To Minors-1st:Via Computer For Sexual Contact”. His victims were two boys, ages 14 and 15. He was sentenced to 5 years probation.
The Department of Criminal Justice sex offender database shows Cohen currently under the jurisdiction of the NYCPD Sex Offender Unit. His registered address in the DCJI database is 35 Fort Washington Avenue in New York, NY.
Cohen was arrested at 1 Stonelea Place.
