NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City School District of New Rochelle Board of Education ratified a three-year contract with the New Rochelle Federation of United School Employees (FUSE) at its meeting Wednesday night.
The agreement had been contingent upon voter approval of the District’s $290.7 million budget for the 2021-2022 school year. Voters provided that approval in its 2,255-888 vote Tuesday, according to unofficial results.
The contract is retroactive to July 1, 2020. It gives employees raises of 1.5% for the current school year and again for 2021-2022, followed by a 1.35% raise for 2022-2023.
Both parties worked hard to deliver an agreement that is fair and equitable for FUSE membership and fiscally responsible for taxpayers, while simultaneously maintaining the District’s outstanding educational programming. FUSE’s membership had ratified the contract earlier.
Board of Education President Rachel Relkin stated, “The Board is thrilled we now have an agreement officially in place with FUSE. We know that all our hardworking staff members are dedicated to the students of New Rochelle and are committed to ensuring that the District meets their educational, social and emotional needs. This contract will position us to move forward, together.”
