NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Dr. Alex Marrero has been selected to be the next Superintendent of the Denver Public School.

The Denver Public School Board still has to negotiate a contract then vote to approve the deal at their next meeting on June 3.
Dr. Marrero has served as acting then interim superintendent for the City School District of New Rochelle in New York since September 2020. He started with the District in January 2020 as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and was elevated to his current position as former Superintendent Dr. Laura Feijóo unexpectedly resigned.
Prior to New Rochelle, Marrero was Assistant Superintendent at the East Ramapo Central School District in New York. He has earned degrees from Fordham University, Manhattan College and Sage Colleges.
Marrero beat out Andre Wright, chief academic officer for Aurora Public Schools and Stephanie Soliven, assistant superintendent for secondary leading and learning in Brevard Public Schools in Florida for the position.
Denver Public Schools is one of the largest school district in the United States with 92,000 students.
