Interim Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero was approved last night as the new Superintendent of the Denver Public School District.
This morning he sent an email to the employees of the City School District of New Rochelle:
Dear Staff,
Although it may feel that it was ages ago, I came to New Rochelle in January 2020. I transitioned in an attempt to help heal a fractured school community. During this short time filled with unprecedented challenges, the most significant being managing the district during a worldwide pandemic, we have made inroads as a school community. For this reason, it is bittersweet to inform you that I will be resigning from the District, the district that enabled me to lead so fearlessly, to lead one of the nation’s largest school districts in the nation, the Denver Public School District, Denver Colorado.
As your Interim Superintendent, I have been fortunate to support your work as you provided our students and community with educational opportunities and social-emotional nourishment at the highest level. Your hard work and sacrifice throughout the pandemic is a testimony to who you are as professionals both individually as well as collectively.
In closing, I wish you all the very best in the days ahead. The City School District of the City of New Rochelle has a bright future and I wish you the best as you continue your work to bring the hopes and dreams for the children and their families to fruition.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alex Marrero
