NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Police Officers observed an occupied, parked vehicle on Crescent Avenue late Thursday night. They recognized one of the occupants, and knew that he had an outstanding warrant for criminal contempt that occurred on May 15th, 2021.
What came next was a bonanza of guns, ammunition and felony arrests.
Three of the four occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged for an incident the night of April 30 where shots were fired at a moving pickup truck near Union Avenue and Fourth Street. Upon searching the area, two 9 mm shell casings were recovered. A warrant was issued for a fourth suspect. A fourth person in the vehicle was also arrested.
At approximately 11:02 p.m., New Rochelle Police Department Officers recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun with a 30-round extended magazine, along with a bag of 30 rounds of 9 mm ammunition from the vehicle.
A handgun (depicted above), recovered during the arrest of the four above suspects, is the same handgun used by Coyt during the April 30th incident.
Wilmer Maldonado, aged 20, of New Rochelle, Janetti Oceguera-Coyt, aged 20, of New Rochelle, Daniel Barcenas, aged 20, of New Rochelle and Abel Coyt, aged 35, of New Rochelle were arrested by New Rochelle police.
A warrant was filed on Jair Barcenas, aged 18 of New Rochelle. He is expected to be booked on June 14.
Abel Coyt, Wilmer Maldonado, Daniel Barcenas and Jair Barcenas are charged with Attempted Murder Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment First Degree in connection with an incident which occurred on April 30th at 11:35 p.m. in the vicinity of Union Avenue & Fourth Street, in which shots were fired by Coyt into a moving vehicle.
Maldonado was additionally charged for the June 10th incident with Criminal Possession of a Weapon Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices-Not in Home.
Daniel Barcenas was additionally charged for the June 10th incident with Criminal Possession of a Weapon Second Degree; Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices- Not in Home; Criminal Contempt -Second Degree-Disobey Court Order and Aggravated Harassment.
Coyt was additionally charged for the June 10th incident with Criminal Possession of a Weapon Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices- Not in Home.
Oceguera-Coyt was charged for the June 10th incident with Criminal Possession of a Weapon Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices- Not in Home.
