Bronx Mom Busted for DWI with Her 9-Month Old Baby in the Car after Traffic Collision in Mamaroneck

MAMARONECK, NY –Sylvia Cortez, aged 40, of the Bronx, was arrested by Village of Mamaroneck Police on June 16, at 10:13 p.m. and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (person less than 15 years of age in vehicle), an E Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, an A Misdemeanor, and Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident (property damage only), a violation.

Village of Mamaroneck Police responded to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident near Jensen Avenue and Keeler Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and, after an investigation, determined the accident had occurred in the area of East Boston Post Road and North Barry Avenue.

Upon interviewing one of the drivers, officers observed signs of alcohol intoxication and conducted a DWI investigation.

Upon completion of the investigation, the driver, was arrested.

At the time of the accident, Cortez was operating the vehicle with her 9-month-old child in the car.

Cortez was released on her own recognizance pending a future court date.
