MAMARONECK, NY — A 44-year-old man from Mamaroneck died yesterday after he was walking in the area of 609 Mamaroneck Avenue. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification to next of kin.
Jerry Barrios, aged 23, of Elmsford, was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death, a D Felony.
Village of Mamaroneck Police received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 11:20 p.m. on July 21. Officers responded and immediately rendered aid to the victim. EMS transported the victim to Westchester County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The incident occurred near a pedestrian crosswalk on Mamaroneck Avenue not far from Van Ranst Place where Andrew Lamb, aged 23, of the Village of Mamaroneck, is alleged to have thrown a can of paint at a Black Lives Matter mural. Lamb charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree as a Hate Crime, an E Felony.
The Westchester County Department of Public Safety Accident Investigation Unit worked with Village of Mamaroneck Detectives to process the scene of the collision.
Barrios was arraigned by the Village of Mamaroneck Court and released on $5,000 cash bail pending a future court date.
