MAMARONECK, NY –Edgardo Santos, 24-year-old, of Harrison, NY, was charged with Robbery 2nd, a C Felony, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd, a C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, a D Felony, and Assault 2nd, a D Felony
On October 30 at 4:36 am, Village of Mamaroneck Police received a 911 call reporting a robbery at gun point on Mamaroneck Avenue near Grand Street. The victim, a 21-year-old-male from Mamaroneck, reported that the suspect approached him, pointed a handgun at him and demanded money. The victim complied with the suspect’s demand and turned over several hundred dollars. The suspect then struck the victim in the face and fled the area.
Patrol officers responded to the location and rendered aid to the victim, who sustained minor injuries. Officers began a canvass of the area and conducted several investigative stops; however, the suspect eluded capture at that time. Detectives responded to the scene and conducted a further investigation.
On November 1, 2021, VMPD Detectives were able to positively identify the suspect and developed several leads. While conducting an area canvass, detectives observed the suspect and attempted to approach him. Upon immediately identifying themselves as police officers, the suspect fled the area on a bicycle. Detectives gave chase on foot and alerted patrol units via radio that they were in pursuit of the suspect. Patrol officers and detectives were able to stop the suspect and apprehend him without further incident.
On November 2, VMPD Detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and recovered an imitation handgun that was used in the robbery.
Santos was taken into custody and arraigned in Village of Mamaroneck Court and bail was set at $5,000 cash. Santos was unable to arrange bail and was transported to the Westchester County Jail.
