NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Three tractor trailers jackknifed within 45 minutes of each other on I-95 southbound between Larchmont (Exit 17) and New Rochelle (Exit 16). Injuries have been reported in two separate incidents — one in New Rochelle involving two tractor trailers and one in Larchmont but no one was taken to hospital.
All three accidents were weather-related, according to officials.
One tractor trailer was flipped over near the Exit 17 on ramp to I-95 southbound. A quarter mile down the interstate two other tractor trailers were flipped over on their side, close to each other, in the area of the former toll booth.
The incident with two tractor trailers at Exit 16 in New Rochelle was reported at about 10:30 am. One driver was treated at the scene, neither driver taken to hospital, according to NRFD Fire Chief Andrew Sandor.
The incident with one tractor trailer at Exit 17 in Larchmont was a separate accident, reported at about 11:00 am. The Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department, Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department and New Rochelle Fire Department responded. There were no injuries.
On scene at the New Rochelle incident were New York State Police. New Rochelle Fire Department, New Rochelle Police Department, New York State Department of Transportation and Vincent’s Towing.
