NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A complaint that a Marriott guest was using someone else’s Marriott Rewards Points to pay for a room turned into a weapons charge when police found an unlicensed 9 mm pistol in possession of the guest.

Tylique J. Brown, 22, of The Bronx, NY was arrested by New Rochelle Police and charged Tuesday with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a C Felony.

On Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, at about 11:54 am, New Rochelle Police Patrol Officers responded to the 35 LeCount Place, the Marriott Residence Inn, on a report from the staff that a customer may be fraudulently using someone else’s ‘Marriott Rewards Points’ without permission to pay for a room.

During the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of a 9 mm Kimber handgun, for which he did not have a permit to possess or carry. He was subsequently arrested for weapons possession, but no fraud charges were filed.
