Car Chase Ends in Crash, Driver of Vehicle Wanted by FBI Charged by New Rochelle Police for Felony Reckless Driving, 2 Injured

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Rashad Newton, 18 years of age, of Syracuse, NY was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, an A Misdemeanor, Assault 2nd Degree – Recklessly Cause Serious Injury, a D Felony and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, a D Felony.

Newton, droving a vehicle wanted by the FBI, fled New Rochelle Police, collided into an oncoming vehicle on Webster Avenue, injuring that driver who sustained what was reported as non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle wanted by the FBI had 3 occupants, all of whom were detained by the FBI. One passenger of that vehicle was injured in the accident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Newton, the driver of that vehicle, was charged by New Rochelle Police for violations stemming from the pursuit.

The chase began in Connecticut, sources say. The vehicle was slowed attempting to make its way through various downtown construction sites along North Avenue, assisting police in effecting the apprehension of the 3 suspects.
