PORT CHESTER, NY — A Port Chester police officer was dragged by a stolen vehicle fleeing a traffic stop on Friday.

According to police, at around 11 am, the traffic unit of the Port Chester Police Department attempted to stop a Silver BMW with temporary license plates on the Boston Post Road for traffic infractions. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of New York State and was displaying fictitious temporary plates.

The driver of the BMW made a U-turn and fled South on Boston Post Road. At the intersection of Boston Post Road and High Street, two rolloff trucks were able to block the BMW.

As a PCPD officer went to the driver’s side door, the driver accelerated in reverse. As the driver of the BMW backed up, the police officer was dragged between the vehicle and the truck.

The officer was able to break free. He suffered minor injuries. The driver sped away and onto I-95 Southbound.

Port Chester Police are attempting to locate the driver and the vehicle.

Anyone with any information concerning the driver or the location of the Silver BMW is asked to call 914-939-6332.
