NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Shawn Gilchrest, 21, of New Rochelle, is facing a slew of charges following a traffic violation last Wednesday.
On Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022, at about 10:00 pm, police say, New Rochelle Detectives stopped a vehicle on Beechwood Avenue for a Vehicle and Traffic Law offense. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Shawn Gilchrest, 21 years of age, of New Rochelle. During the traffic stop, Gilchrest fled in the vehicle and a pursuit was quickly terminated.
On Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, Westchester County Probation conducted a check on Gilchrest and found him to be in possession of a loaded 30 round extended magazine loaded with 9 mm ammunition as well as parts for a ghost gun.
Gilchrest has been charged with Criminal Possession of Weapon 3rd degree, a D Felony, Unlawful Possession of Certain Feeding Devices, an A misdemeanor, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, an A Misdemeanor, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd degree, an A misdemeanor, Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, an A misdemeanor and Reckless Driving.
