Brooklyn 15-Year-Old Steals Car Then Smashes into New Rochelle Police Car at Costco

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A 15-Year-Old boy from Brooklyn has some explaining to do to grandma after he was arrested by New Rochelle Police and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, a D Felony.

On March 12th, 2022, at about 12:00 pm, New Rochelle Police were alerted by the Westchester County Police Real-Time Crime Center in Valhalla, NY that a stolen car had entered the city from I-95 corridor. Officers were able to locate the vehicle, a white Dodge Caravan occupied by one male suspect, in the Home Depot parking lot. As the officers approached the vehicle, it began reversing out of a parking space. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, at which time it kept reversing and collided with a police car before fleeing towards Costco on Industrial Lane. A brief pursuit ensued, and officers found that the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers located the suspect, a male juvenile 15 years of age, hiding in the bushes behind Costco. He was subsequently arrested and then released to his grandmother.
