Commercial Burglary Suspect Arrested in Rye with Burglary Tools

RYE, NY — Abner Morisset Jr, 42 of Brooklyn, New York was arrested Monday by Rye Police and charged with Burglary — Third, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Possession of Stolen Property. The suspect was arrested after a commercial burglary was reported on Elm Place in the City of Rye.

On Monday, March 28, 2022, at 6:25 p.m., Rye officers responded to a report of a stolen Laptop from an office located on Elm Place. 

Officers were aware there had been recent commercial burglaries in the area.

Upon arrival, officers were given a description of the suspect obtained from the building manager’s security camera. Additional officers responded and saw a party matching the description of the suspect.

The party was stopped on Theodore Fremd Avenue. Morisset was found to be in possession of burglary tools, the stolen MacBook, and cash.

Detectives are conducting follow up to determine if Morisset can be linked to any other crimes.
