Mount Vernon Man Facing Multiple Charges in Bronx Baby Shower Murder

BRONX, NY — New York Police have arrested an additional suspect sought by police in the Bronx Baby Shower Murder.

Nathaniel Sewell, 26 of Mount Vernon, NY has charged with Murder, Manslaughter, Gang Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

The incident took place on Saturday, February 12, 2022, shortly before 11 p.m., just across the Metro-North train tracks from Fordham Preparatory School in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx. A dispute arose following a baby shower at a nearby location.

Previously, Wayne Smith, 28, of 17 Coligni Avenue in New Rochelle, NY was arrested by the New York Police Department and charged with Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Smith is alleged to have shot in the torso and killed Arnold Oliver, 24, of 205 Nelson Avenue in Peekskill, NY.

Oliver is alleged to have shot in the face and killed Jamal Smith, 28, of 17 Coligni Avenue in New Rochelle, NY.

On Saturday, February 12, 2022, at approximately 10:54 pm, police responded to a 911 call of a man shot at East 198 Street and Webster Avenue, within the confines of the 52 Precinct. Upon arrival, police observed two men in front of 397 East 198 Street: a 24-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the torso and a 28-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the face. EMS also responded and transported both males to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where both males were pronounced deceased. Wayne Smith was taken into custody with charges pending. A firearm was also recovered.

Nathaniel Sewell, allegedly the man dressed in black pants, and an unbuttoned blue winter coat over a light-colored hoodie, jumped up on the hood of the car and joined the altercation that resulted in the death of Arnold Oliver.
