NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 19, 2022) Argenis Rosa-Reyes, 25, was shaking, crying and hyperventilating when he was brought before Judge Matthew Costa in New Rochelle City Court this morning on major drug charges.

“The address is houses away from New Rochelle High School which as a parent and a resident I find very troubling,” said Costa addressing the shackled defendant from the bench.

Rosa-Reyes’ Legal Aid attorney told Judge Costa his client was in such a state of emotional distress he was unable to get any pedigree information or contact information out of him. Through a Spanish-language interpreter, Costa advised Rosa-Reyes to provide information to his attorney. Rosa-Reyes struggled to provide 10 digits which he said was his wife’s phone number.

Rosa-Reyes is charged with Two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, an A-1 Felony.

Rosa-Reyes was arrested by New Rochelle Police at approximately 11:30 a.m on Monday, April 18 after a neighbor reported a suspicious person seated on a wall holding a package at 24 Aberfoyle Road. The package, shipped from Puerto Rico, was addressed to 25 Aberfoyle Road, a house across the street that is currently listed for rent with immediate availability.

Rosa-Reyes was in possession of a United States Postal Service package that was tightly wrapped in a clear plastic wrapping and contained two kilograms of suspected Cocaine.

Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit and 2nd tour officers recovered the cocaine and made the arrest.

Leo, a K-9 unit on his first day on the job, and his handler PO Tagani, assisted in the arrest.

Rosa-Reyes was remanded to custody of the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla. He is due back in New Rochelle City Court on Monday, April 25.
