EDITOR’S NOTE: We have put in an inquiry with NRPD since Monday morning to ID the officer who is comforting the dog and what happened to the dog after the video ends. We will update this story as soon as we have that information.

UPDATE 9:00 PM 10/30/22: The dog is Coco, a six month old American Bulldog puppy. Coco’s owner, Taahir Conie of the Bronx, called after seeing this story to say that Coco is in bad shape and was not given medical treatment after the car crash. He said a neighbor retrieved Coco from the New Rochelle Police Department on Sunday. Conie said the dog’s tail was cut off, the tail bones was protruding from the tip of the tail and bleeding. Coco was taken to a veterinarian emergency clinic and treated. Conie and his girlfriend were both seriously injured after another driver ran a red light and struck his car. Conie was treated and released on Sunday. His girlfriend remains in the hospital with a broken pelvis. Conie set up a gofundme page.

A red Toyota station wagon with two people, a man and a woman, and a dog was struck by a silver Honda sedan head on the driver-side door.

The silver Honda ended up in the red Toyota, going through the driver-side door and rear passenger door, pushing the vehicle through the intersection.

The silver Honda was moved away from the Red Toyota and firefighters pried open the car doors.

The driver and passenger (Conie) of the red Toyota station wagon went to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a New Rochelle Police spokesperson

The driver of the silver Honda sedan complained of pain in one of his legs, but did not go to the hospital.

An NYPD safety vest was visible on the dashboard of the silver Honda sedan.

Accident investigators from the New Rochelle Police Department responded and handled the investigation.
