VAEA says City of New Rochelle orchestrated a “bad faith” plan to replace them.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 6, 2022) — In 2019, the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts (VAEA) was announced with great fanfare as the future operator of the Black Box Theatre in downtown New Rochelle.
With the Black Box Theatre still dark three years later, RXR, the master developer for the City of New Rochelle and owner of Huguenot 360, wants VAEA out of the space. The VAEA is refusing to leave.
The City of New Rochelle is beyond the push to oust the VAEA, said Ali Cordero Casal, Chairman of VAEA New Rochelle Arts.
