NEW ROCHELLE, NY (July 4, 2022) — L.L.Bean is offering for the first time its popular Discovery Archery Course in partnership with the New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department.
Archery is one of L.L.Bean’s most popular Discovery Courses for adults and children.
The course includes a brief introduction and a safety talk. The instructor will provide helpful advice on the proper technique for correctly holding a recurve bow and releasing an arrow for optimal accuracy and precision.
Archery joins kayaking as another popular outdoor option from L.L. Bean in New Rochelle.
“We are excited that we were able to enhance our partnership with L.L. Bean at Joe Curtis Five Islands Park for the summer of 2022,” said New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Commissioner Vincent Parise. “Archery has exploded in popularity the past few years and like kayaking, we feel this will be an activity that residents of all ages will be excited about participating in.”
“Our partnership with L.L. Bean over the years of producing safe family fun has been well accepted by the community and we feel this initiative will be no different,” he added.
From May to October, L.L.Bean instructors will teach the 90 minute course at Five Islands Park at 99 Le Fevres Lane in New Rochelle. Minimum Age: 8 (14 & under with parent/guardian). All necessary archery equipment is provided.
The Discovery Kayaking Course likewise runs from May to October with L.L.Bean instructors will at Five Islands Park. The course offers a brief introduction and safety talk from L.L. Bean paddling instructors, who will outfit everyone with a personal flotation device, a kayak and paddling equipment. After the introduction, instructors will take the class out in a kayak on a guided, interpretive tour. All necessary paddling equipment is provided.
