NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 11, 2022) — Three juveniles, ages 15, 16, and 17, were arrested Saturday and charged with Robbery 1st Degree, a B Felony and Display of a firearm, a B Felony after a car jacking at the Escape Latino at 969 Main Street.
On July 9th, 2022, at about 2:44am, New Rochelle Police responded to that location based on a report of a carjacking.
The restaurant owner was closing his business for the night and was accosted by 2 male suspects who demanded the keys to his vehicle. A semi-automatic handgun was displayed. The victim complied, and the vehicle was taken.
New Rochelle Detectives, along with the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, were able to develop leads and tracked the vehicle to a neighborhood within the confines of the 47th precinct in the Bronx. Surveillance on the vehicle was set up with New Rochelle Detectives and FBI personnel. At about 2:00pm, the suspects returned to the vehicle and after a brief foot chase, were taken into custody. A third suspect was also taken into custody; these 3 suspects are also suspected to be involved with robberies that occurred hours earlier in Connecticut and Port Chester, NY.
The suspect names were withheld due to juvenile status
Due to their Juvenile status in New York, the suspects were arraigned virtually that evening and were released from custody on their own recognizance to their parents.
I am taking a new approach to responding to questions or comments from readers which you can read about in the link below. The idea is to use Substack as a place I take questions online on a particular page each month and respond so all readers can see the question and my response. I limit this to paid subscribers who are logged in.
I disabled Facebook comments and am no longer approving comments on my website and wish to funnel any back and forth into Substack.
