NEW ROCHELLE, NY (August 23, 2022) — New Rochelle Police Officers located a vehicle previously reported stolen by Pennsylvania State Police then apprehended an upstate New York man when he returned to the vehicle parked on Main Street
Why it matters: NRPD was alerted following an LPR hit reported by the Westchester Real Time Crime Center.
Cedric Wilborn, 51, of Syracuse, NY has an extensive criminal history and was found in possession of a large amount of cash, according to police. He was arraigned before Judge Jared R. Rice in New Rochelle City Court on August 22, 2022. Wilborn pleaded not guilty and was remanded without bail to Westchester County Jail. He has a return date of September 2, 2022.

- Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd degree, an A Misdemeanor
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property – 2nd, a C Felony (value of property over $50,000)
Police account:
- On August 20th, 2022, at about 8:35 a.m. New Rochelle Police were alerted by the Westchester Real Time Crime Center of a stolen auto entering the City from I-95
- Multiple Police Units canvassed the area and the vehicle was found, parked and unoccupied in front of 572 Main Street
- Officers were able to discretely approach the vehicle and verify its status as stolen without drawing attention of a possible suspect
- Officers observed the VIN number that is displayed on the dashboard to be different from a VIN number located on another part of the car
- Officers monitored the vehicle until the suspect returned, where he was taken into custody without incident
