2 Alarm Structure Fire in Port Chester

PORT CHESTER, NY (August 30, 2022) — A home in Port Chester was seriously damaged on Sunday night.

Fire Department Narrative:

(On August 28) around 9:48pm Port Chester Fire was dispatched to 359 North Main Street for a reported structure fire, TL-2 & R-40 were first units to arrive, TL-2 immediately transmitted a 10-75 for a heavy amount of fire in the rear of the building.

As crews made their way to the rear of the house, it was quickly realized the fire had traveled up the entire rear of the house and into the rear of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.

Car 2391 transmitted a 2nd alarm, bringing additional fire department units in to help extinguish the fire.

Port Chester Firefighters, along with mutual aid companies, were able to stop the fire from extending further into the house and the two structures on both sides of the house.

The fire was brought under control within the hour.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Westchester County Department Of Emergency Services Cause & Origin Team, with the assistance of the County Police K9 Arson Team.
