MANVILLE, NJ (September 20, 2022) — Dewitt T. Gilmore IV, age 32, Cooper Drive, New Rochelle, New York and Ainslee J. Clark, age 28, Grant Avenue, Middlesex, New Jersey were arrested on September 12, in relation to a shooting that occurred in the area of North Weiss Street in the early morning hours on Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Manville.
Gilmore was charged with Attempted Murder 2X and related charges.
On Sunday, September 11, 2022, at approximately 5:02 a.m., Manville Police Officers were dispatched to the area of South Main Street in response to a 9-1-1 call reporting a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, Manville Police Department officers located an adult male victim with a gunshot wound who reported that he was shot while in a residence in the area of North Weiss Street. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Manville Police Officers then responded to the residence in the area of North Weiss Street where they located a second adult male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. That victim was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit and Detectives from the Manville Police Department responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. As a result of the investigation, Dewitt Gilmore was identified as a suspect in the shooting of both individuals.
On Monday, September 12, 2022, Dewitt Gilmore was arrested without incident in Hillsborough, New Jersey. He was charged with two counts of 1st degree Attempted Murder, one count of 2nd degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and one count of 2nd degree Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute. Defendant Gilmore was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Additionally, as a result of this investigation Ainslee Clark was also arrested without incident on Monday, September 12, 2022, in Hillsborough, New Jersey. She was charged with 2nd degree Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute and 4th degree Obstruction. Clark was also lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting.
Both victims are expected to survive their injuries.
