Pelham Manor Police Advises Parents To Closely Inspect Halloween Candy

PELHAM MANOR, NY (October 27, 2022) — The Pelham Manor Police Department has issued a statement on keeping children safe on Halloween.

There has been concern regarding recreational drugs coming in the form of candy/snacks, and the use of packaging which seemingly looks like popular candy/snacks. While we have faith our residents would not intentionally hand out these items on Halloween night, the Department thinks it is prudent to provide you additional information on this topic.

We would like to make you aware of these edible dangers, presented in the form of candy/snacks, in hopes of helping you identify these items. Included here are examples of copycat packaging and other candy/snack items which contain recreational drugs.

Typically, these packages will have a dosage of the active ingredient (normally THC) and marijuana leaves stamped on the front. They will also include language such as “medicated” “stoned” “super potent” “magic”, amongst other similar language. As you can see, many of these candies/snacks are presented in a package imitating very popular brands which we see every day.

It goes without saying, always be suspicious of loose packaging of any candies/snacks, and to advise your children not to eat any candy received on Halloween night prior to your inspection.

We wish you a happy and safe Halloween.
