Police Arrest Suspect in Purse Snatching Robbery of 74-Year-Old Woman

MAMARONECK, NY (December 6, 2022) — The VOMPD arrested a young man two days after police say he robbed an elderly woman last Friday evening on Mamaroneck Avenue.

Arrest and Charge:

  • David N. Graham, 29, of Mamaroneck, NY
  • Robbery – 3rd, a D Felony.

Police narrative: On Friday, December 2, 2022, at 6:35 p.m., the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department received a 911 call from a witness who observed a robbery just occur in the 100 block of Mamaroneck Avenue. The witness reported that a male suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and ran down the street with it. VMPD officers and detectives responded to the scene and interviewed both the witness and the victim of the crime, a 74-year-old female.

Detectives from the Investigations Division and Officers from the Community Services Division initiated an investigation and quickly developed a suspect.

On Sunday, December 4th, the suspect was observed walking down Mamaroneck Avenue and was immediately placed under arrest.

Graham was arraigned in the Village of Mamaroneck Court. He was not eligible for bail, since he has two felony convictions on his record for robbery, and is currently being charged with another felony for the robbery. Graham was remanded to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla, NY.
