NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 10, 2023) — The Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle called the New Rochelle Police Department recently to request assistance with a dog in the sewer.

The incident occurred on March 22 at about 10:41 pm on the Church Street extension near Trinity School.

The dog was wearing a harness and leash when he was rescued but had no ID and no microchip. The Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle has named the dog Leonardo and placed him up for adoption.

Leo was good and well struck when responding police officers lured Leo with their dinner to coax him out close enough so he could be rescued.

If you interested to adopt Leo — or another animal — fill out an application and call the shelter at 914-632-2925.

MICROCHIP your dog here.
