LARCHMONT, NY (May 12, 2023) — A Larchmont man is facing multiple charges for allegedly robbing and assaulting a passenger on a bus and then a store employee at a CVS in Larchmont on April 24, 2023.
The defendant, Marlo Young, 20, of the Bronx, was arraigned on April 24 before Judge Beaver in Larchmont Court. He is charged in three separate cases stemming from the incident, which occurred around 6 p.m.
According to the police, Young first robbed and assaulted a passenger on a Westchester County Bee Line bus, taking his wallet and phone. He then fled the bus and entered a CVS store on Chatsworth Avenue, where he assaulted and threatened another employee and stole some items.
Young was chased by the police. He hid for several hours in the backyard of a private residence. When he attempted to leave he was arrested near Wendt Avenue and Vanderburgh Avenue with the help of the Westchester County Aviation Unit and officers from the Town of Mamaroneck and the Village of Mamaroneck.
Young is charged with robbery in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree for the bus incident. He is also charged with two counts of assault in the third degree and one count of menacing in the second degree for the CVS incident.
Bail was set at $20,000 cash, $60,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond for the robbery case, and at $1 for the other cases. Young is scheduled to appear in Larchmont court again on May 16, 2023.
The Larchmont Police Department praised the swift and professional response of the first responders and the collaboration of the various police departments in apprehending Young.
The CVS store has been previously targeted by shoplifters, according to local media reports. Shoplifting is a major problem for retailers in the United States, costing them billions of dollars every year.
