NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 10, 2023) — The City of New Rochelle has opened a new multi-level parking garage at 25 Maple Avenue as part of its ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown area. The new construction provides 200 municipal parking spaces, including 20 EV charging stations for hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

The garage replaces a surface lot that previously held 113 municipal parking spaces and adds an additional 87 spaces to the location. The new facility covers 70,000 square feet and is designed to support the growth of downtown businesses while making it more convenient for residents and visitors to enjoy all that New Rochelle has to offer.

In addition to the new garage, Maple Avenue has been returned to two-way traffic flow and on-street metered parking has been re-installed on the east side of the street. City officials say these changes will provide even more parking options for residents while supporting local businesses.

“The success of the Maple Avenue Garage project is a prime example of how New Rochelle is working today, to position the community for its growing future,” said Martha López-Hanratty, New Rochelle Councilwoman for District 4. “New Rochelle takes pride in finding new ways to invest in its infrastructure and community facilities, and the new garage on Maple Avenue is a living testament to this.”

City Manager Kathleen Gill added that upgrading and modernizing municipal lots is an important component of the city’s ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. “The new Maple Avenue Garage now offers even more parking options for the surrounding neighborhood and Main Street, along with a number of key amenities,” she said.
