NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 25, 2023) — The League of Women Voters of New Rochelle will host a Candidates Forum on Monday, June 12 at 6 pm for contested seats in the Democratic Party primary election.
The Forum will take place in the City Council Chambers in City Hall, located at 515 North Ave. Entrance to the event is from the parking lot behind the building.
The Republican Party does not have any contested primary races.
Competing for the Democratic nomination are as follows:
- For Mayor: District 3 Councilwoman Yadira Ramos-Herbert versus County District 10 Legislator Damon Maher
- For District 3 City Council seat: Lianne Merchant, David Peters, Kwamain Dixon and Margaret Chadwick
- For District 4 City Council seat: Ivar Hyden (incumbent) and Shane Osinloye
- For County Legislative District 11 seat: Terry Clements (incumbent) and challenger Ximena Francella.
Members of the public can submit questions for the Forum participants ahead of time to lwvnewrochelle@gmail.org. A trained moderator from outside New Rochelle will moderate the Forum. Candidate, polling and other information can be found on vote411.com.
The Forum will also be broadcast live on Optimum cable channel 75 and Verizon cable channel 28 and recorded for replay.
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 27 in the City Hall annex, entered from Beaufort Place. Early voting will begin on June 17.
