NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 23, 2023) — Two construction workers got into an altercation that resulted in one man stabbing the other.
Early today at about 11:06am, a New Rochelle Police Officer on a traffic post at the intersection of Division Street and Westchester Place observed a person walking near him who was in apparent distress and suffering from a stab wound. The officer rendered aid and requested an ambulance for the victim, who was transported to a local hospital.
New Rochelle Detectives responded, and the investigation revealed that the victim, a local construction worker, was involved in a physical dispute with a co-worker and was stabbed during the altercation. Detectives were able to locate the suspect in the stabbing and take him into custody without incident.
The victim’s name is being withheld at this time, and he is in serious, but stable condition.
Sources say that the incident occurred in a walkway adjacent to the Modern restaurant, between Huguenot Street and Westchester Place.
