MAMARONECK, NY (August 11, 2023) — A 17-year-old Mamaroneck resident is facing a slew of charges after driving a vehicle into a park, striking playground equipment.
On July 1, 2023 at approximately 11:20 pm Mamaroneck Police Officers on foot patrol assigned to the Fireman’s carnival observed a mini-van driving recklessly in the grass area adjacent to the Carnival grounds. Officers immediately ran to the vehicle and ordered it to stop multiple times, when it accelerated into the playground area.
The driver struck several pieces of playground equipment with the vehicle. There were no reported injures.
The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile Mamaroneck resident, was taken into custody.
EMS was requested and responded, and transported the juvenile to the hospital, escorted by police officers. The juvenile was treated and released, and transported to VMPD Headquarters for processing.

- Refusal to take a breath test, a Violation
The juvenile was arraigned by a youth magistrate, and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date at the Youth Part of Wesctchester Superior Court.
