New Rochelle Man Fires 9 mm Round into Occupied Apartment Above

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (December 18, 2023) — A New Rochelle man is facing multiple weapons charges after he fired a round from a 9 mm Ruger handgun into the ceiling of his apartment.

On Sunday December 17th, 2023, at about 6:53 pm, New Rochelle Police responded to

132 Beechwood Avenue on a report that a gunshot had come through the floor of an apartment from the apartment below. The complainant stated she heard the shot around 12:30 am but did not see the damage until later. New Rochelle Detectives responded and were able to obtain a search warrant for the apartment below the complainant.

The investigation led to Detectives finding a defaced 9 mm Ruger handgun with five live rounds of ammunition in the apartment.

The owner of the gun was arrested without incident. There were no injuries as a result of this incident. The reason for the shot was not disclosed by the suspect.
