NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 9, 2024) — New Rochelle Police are warning parents to caution children and be aware of strangers in their neighborhoods after a frightening incident involving a lemonade stand.
On May 7th, 2024, at about 3:10 pm, New Rochelle Detectives arrested one Noe D. Calderon, a 44 years old male, of Mamaroneck, NY in a Child Endangerment case. Calderon is alleged to have approached a 13-year-old boy who had a lemonade stand in a neighborhood off North Avenue. Calderon is alleged to have patronized the lemonade stand and further made sexual advances to the boy and attempted to exchange numbers. Shortly after the boy and his parents reported the incident, Calderon was located and placed under arrest.
The New Rochelle Police Department would like to use this incident as a reminder to family, friends and neighbors of young children that good diligence should be used in monitoring the popular pastime of lemonade stands, or any youth run business that may attract persons that are not from the neighborhood. Due to the uptick in home delivery services and remote work, as well as other regular service calls to homes, one may not realize that neighborhoods get more traffic from people who are not known to the residents of the area. Cautioning children and providing guidance on dealing with unfamiliar people is recommended.
