MAMARONECK, NY (July 10, 2024) — The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on July 5-6 between 9:00 pm and 3:00 am.
Officers on Mamaroneck Avenue under the I-95 overpass were looking for motorists who were driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The outcome of the checkpoint is as follows:
- 500 vehicles stopped/checked.
- 13 of those vehicles were detained for additional screening of the operator.
- 4 DWI arrests were made
- 2 other arrests were made unrelated to DWI.
- 46 Vehicle and Traffic tickets were issued unrelated to DWI
DWI Arrests:
- 34-year-old male from Port Chester, NY
- 35-year-old male from New Rochelle, NY
- 18-year-old male from Mamaroneck, NY
- 38-year-old male from Eastchester, NY
During the period of 1/1/24-7/5/24, officers of the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department made 35 DWI arrests, compared to 15 arrests for the same period in 2023.

This behavior should not be tolerated as it puts the lives of innocent people in jeopardy.
