New Rochelle Police Identify Shooter in Highrise Homicide, Arrest Made in Queens

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (August 25, 2024) — A man was arrested in Queens, NY after New Rochelle Police identified the suspected shooter of a 30-year-old woman in a luxury apartment building in New Rochelle.

On Saturday, August 24th, at approximately 10:13 AM, New Rochelle Police received a

call regarding an incident in an apartment at One Clinton Park at 55 Clinton Place, New Rochelle, NY.

Officers responded and found Meisha Williams, a 30-year-old woman, dead from an apparent gunshot.

Patrol officers were able to quickly secure the scene and locate people with information. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, responded and took over the investigation.

After processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses, they were able to identify 28-year-old Robert Wooten as the suspected shooter. Wooten was ultimately located and arrested in Queens, New York at approximately 9:00 pm last night. Charges are pending.

Although the exact relationship is not clear at this time, Williams and Wooten did know each other.

Detective Lieutenant Brian Fagan offered a word of thanks for the joint effort of numerous New Rochelle Police Officers and Detectives, the NYPD 103rd Precinct, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center, and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office in Wooten’s arrest.
