RYE, NY (September 15, 2024) — On Thursday September 12, 2024, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the City of Rye Police Department arrested Nygel Joseph age 28, of Mount Vernon, New York, for Grand Larceny 3rd degree a class D Felony.
On January 20, 2021 a party came to Rye Police Headquarters and filed a report that he was the victim of a Facebook Marketplace scam in which he unknowingly purchased a stolen 2020 Mercedes Benz E350 for $24,000 cash. Joseph reportedly used fraudulent documents and an alias to complete the cash
sale. An investigation was opened by Rye Detectives which led to an arrest warrant for Joseph.
This morning Joseph was picked up by the Mount Vernon Police Department on another matter and turned over to the Rye Police.
Nygel Joseph was arraigned in Rye City Court this morning and was ordered to be held at the
Westchester County Correctional Facility until his next court appearance on Tuesday September 17, 2024.
