NEW ROCHELLE, NY (November 13, 2024) — At approximately 12:32 AM on Tuesday, the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center alerted New Rochelle Police to a vehicle that had entered the city at Eastchester Road and Pelhamdale Avenue, which had previously fled from an NYPD traffic stop. This same vehicle was involved in another fleeing incident in New Rochelle at 7:55 PM the previous evening.

Shortly thereafter New Rochelle Police observed the suspect vehicle stopped in traffic at the intersection of Brook Street and Lincoln Avenue. Officers were able to successfully box in the vehicle, bringing it to a stop without incident.

The operator, a 17-year-old juvenile, exited the vehicle and was unable to provide any identification or a driver’s license. He was promptly placed under arrest and transported to the police headquarters for processing.

During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of 24 checks from the United States Treasury, made out to 24 different individuals, totaling $91,396.38. Further investigation revealed a local complainant who reported not receiving her Social Security check, prompting the involvement of postal inspectors.
